BE Strong. Courageous. Empowered.
But NEVER Be Silenced.
WHO WE ARE:
Benevolence stands as a beacon of compassion with a rich history spanning two decades. Inspired by our founder’s unwavering commitment to uplift and support the most vulnerable in her community, the organization emerged as a lifeline for those silenced by the harrowing echoes of trauma. Rooted in the belief that every individual deserves dignity and healing, Benevolence was conceived as a sanctuary for survivors, offering refuge and restoration in the aftermath of unimaginable pain.
OUR MISSION is to create an atmosphere that eliminates the barriers of keeping silent within the family environment where incest persists, by providing the necessary support and assistance, one family at a time.
OUR PURPOSE is to break the silence of incest within the family structure, one child at a time. We do this by delivering non-judgmental environments, educating on the freedom of speaking your truth, and by making aware the support and resources available.
WHAT WE DO.
We serve families effected by incest by partnering with the following agencies:
THE JUSTICE SYSTEM
We partner with the police/sheriff's department and the juvenile justice system to identify individuals in need and provide resources, mentoring and counseling.
PSYCHOLOGISTS
Partnering with local psychologists allows us to identify families/individuals in need and provide expert care and assistance.
DIVORCE COURTS
By understanding the cause of divorce, we are able to intervene where needed and provide support and resources to the family and children.
SCHOOLS
As youth are most effected, we meet them where they are and help create atmospheres for safe vulnerability.
CHURCHES
Finally, we help identify a local place of solace, healing and community for families who need it.
“I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor,
never the tormented.”
– Elie Wiesel
ABOUT THE FOUNDER:
Cheryl Berry
Founder | Benevolence
Psychology, B.S., M.S.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER:
Drawing from her own childhood experience of enduring abuse from a family member, Cheryl intimately grasps the profound trauma and long-term effects such experiences can inflict.
When the same issues surfaced in her own family as an adult, Cheryl recognized the importance of breaking the silence in order to break cycles. She then felt the call to extend a hand to others in need of liberation. Thus, she embarked on a lifelong journey of delving into the intricacies of the human psyche, trauma, and strategies for resilience, all with the noble aim of empowering and advocating for those who have felt marginalized and silenced as survivors of abuse.
“I believe if Christians can break their silence in a non-condemning environment, and get the support they need, the statistics wouldn’t be what they are today.” – Cheryl Berry
And so, Benevolence came into being, committed to supporting and uplifting the wider community by identifying, guiding, and nurturing those most impacted by abuse.
One Child Telling. One Parent Believing.
Benevolence Supporting.
This will change the narrative of the outcome of incest.
